Despite the practice of smudging is commonly connected with sage, here are also some other herbs you can use and their excellent benefits.
- Burn bay leaves
In fact, bay leaves have been things of legends for millennia. They were used in Greek and Roman folklore or Indian and Caribbean culture and cuisine.
However, bay leaves aren’t only used in food and fairytales, but they are also commonly used as a fragrance ingredient found in perfumes, lotions, creams, soaps, and detergents, as well.
Their herbal benefits
The bay leaf has been traditionally used as an analgesic, sedative, anticonvulsant and anti-inflammatory agent. Additionally, this wonderful herb has also antibacterial and anti-fungal effects and decreases both blood pressure as well as heart rate. Also, it is usually used in the treatment of chronic stress, insomnia, or to alter mood.
When used as a culinary herb, bay leaf has a powerful capacity to help in the regulation of glucose and cholesterol levels in diabetic people and also to prevent kidney stones.
If taken as a tea, bay leaf is able to prevent the leukaemia growth and spread and trigger apoptosis in other cancerous cells.
The best way to use bay leaves
You can cook various meals with this marvellous herb but, it is recommended to remove the leaves before serving because they can be a chocking hazard.
But, in case you’re feeling stressed or you’re a bad mood, you can simply burn 1 or 2 bay leaves in an aluminium baking tray in your room or office and leave it for about 10 minutes. Don’t forget to close the windows as a breeze could knock it over, and also keep the tray away from anything flammable, for instance paper, wood, or linens. Moreover, ensure you’re not burning it under a smoke detector.
As you come back inside, the smoke of the amazing herb will help your mind and muscles feel more relaxed. Also, you’ll actually find it much easier to focus on your task at hand. Finally, when you’re done, just dispose of the ashes outside.
