  • 4 green banana peels
  • Half a cup of fresh black-eyed peas (but soaked overnight)
  • 1 teaspoon of turmeric
  • 2 tablespoons of unsweetened grated coconut
  • 2 teaspoons of coconut oil
  • Juice from one lime
  •  Half a teaspoon of mustard seeds
  • Some salt

The banana peels should be chopped into small pieces and boiled along with the turmeric, some water, and salt. Some oil should be added in the water to prevent the ingredients from sticking to the pot. Once it boils, simmer until the banana peels get tender.

Next, the water should be drained and stored for cooking some soup or rice.

Afterwards, the black-eyed peas should be also boiled until they get tender. But, in case you use canned, they should be only rinsed and drained.

Moreover, the coconut oil should be heated over medium heat, and the mustard seeds should be added and cooked until they pop.

At least, the black-eyed peas and the peels should be added in it and cooked for another 5 minutes. Once it is removed from heat, the coconut should be added and stirred in. You can finally add the lime juice and salt.

Which Is a Better Option: Yellow or Green Banana Peel?

It is important to know that yellow as well as green banana peels offer beneficial effects. However, ripe banana peels are more effective as a result of their powerful cancer-fighting properties. Additionally, they help in the production of white blood cells.

On the other hand, green peels are excellent for weight loss as they possess greater amount of pro-biotics, thus improving the digestive system. Plus, it is considered that green peels can boost dopamine and serotonin levels.

Of course, it is not tasty to consume a banana peel itself, so you can prepare smoothie using banana peels and some cinnamon, coconut milk, ice, etc.

They can also be used for tea, so consider boiling the peels in a pot for 10 minutes. You can also add some honey in it.

Or, prepare some delicious food out of green bananas since they can be more easily cooked. For instance, instead of using potatoes, add banana in curries and chutneys.
